This includes an RGB sensor (1440x1080p), capturing exactly what the drone can see, and a thermal sensor (160x120p), which measures temperature differences.ĭata from both sensors are combined by the FreeFlight Thermal app to create precise and detailed images. The lightweight and compact, the thermal camera is equipped with two sensors. At any time during a flight, the pilot can switch from a thermal image to an HD image, record video footage, and store captured content directly to the drone’s 32GB memory. This solution enhances Parrot’s Professional range of business solutions, which launched earlier this year with Parrot Disco-Pro AG, Parrot Bebop-Pro 3D Modelling and, more recently, Parrot Bluegrass. The resulting framework allows a rapid landing in turbulent wind conditions and will be crucial for efficient truck-drone delivery systems.Parrot Bebop-Pro Thermal is an all-in-one quadcopter thermal imaging solution specifically designed for small construction businesses, thermal inspection professionals and public safety services. To improve the performance, the characteristics of the turbulent conditions are accounted for in the controller. The landing trajectory is computed online using receding horizon control and is followed by a boundary layer sliding controller that provides tracking performance guarantees in the presence of unknown, but bounded, disturbances. This project aims to develop a robust system that provides a direct, vision-based fast landing without requiring to hover the drone above the vehicle as the state of the art does, and which accounts for the turbulent wind that will be present on the back of a pickup truck. Therefore, several researchers have addressed the problem of a truck-drone delivery system, and have concluded that a promising research direction is autonomous drone landing on a moving truck.Ĭurrent approaches of quadrotor landing on moving platforms consist of slow maneuvers and do not account for the turbulent wind present in this scenario. Their payload and flight time is limited though, and they cannot accomplish this task completely by themselves.
